Christmas Cards

Like cold water to a thirsty soul,
so is good news from a far country.
Proverbs 25:25

We often host short term visitors for supper. It's fun to get to know them, learn their stories, and answer their questions about Kijabe.

Last week Krista came to supper. Krista is a general surgeon from central California, and she could get away for only two weeks - one week to cover one of the surgical services in the hospital, and one to lead seminars at a big medical education conference in Limuru, about 45 minutes from here.

And she brought mail! Pam at my office and Crystal at our church had pulled out all the Christmas cards from our pile of mail and forwarded them on to Krista, who delivered them to us. What a treat!

We had fun sitting together on the couch, reading each card, and feeling grateful for all the friends who think of us and pray for us while we're in Africa.

Krista also brought a bag of M&M's and a package of tuna - not very special when we're in Snohomish, but wonderful gifts here!

It was funny how the ziploc bags and the Target grocery bag caught our eye even more than the food inside - little things like Scotch tape, paper clips, and ziploc bags are things to be cherished here in Kijabe! Ha!

Feeling very grateful,
Doug & Kathy
