Tell to the coming generation
the glorious deeds of the Lord, and his might,
and the wonders that he has done.

and the wonders that he has done.

My favorites are the medical interns. Fresh out of medical school, they are eager, smart, and inexperienced. Kijabe provides a wealth of opportunities to learn, with many sick and complex patients, clinical conferences twice a day, and a strong faculty of Kenyan and Western physicians to provide supervision.
Then Joy and John joined the team. Joy is a first-year family medicine resident (or "registrar"), and John is in his third year. I'm impressed with John's confidence and skill; Joy will be there in a couple years.
The teaching is rigorous. Dr. Balke, a visiting pediatrician from Germany, gave a helpful demonstration of ventilator management in our ICU. Here, Obanyo, Jackie, and Karren listen in.

Our Salome ward team leads a case conference once a month, and I have been posting an X-ray challenge every week or two, with a prize (nice coffee mug, Kenyan jewelry, and other cool stuff) for the best answer.
In January, Kathy and I had the eight new interns over for homemade pizza, four of them one Friday evening and four the next - Charles, Janet, Pauline, Obanyo, Naomi, Ann, Demetrius, and Karren. It was great fun getting to know them, learning about their backgrounds, and hearing their dreams for the future. And we shared a bit of our journey, and the faithfulness of God in our lives.
Very well educated and committed to Christ, they each hope to play a role in shaping a better Kenya in the future, addressing issues like family breakdown, AIDS, and tribalism. At least one of them would like to be President of Kenya some day!
I am honored to play a small role in the training of these fine young men and women at Kijabe.
